Hmmm...to give in or not to give in? That's the mondo question. If you're a regular blog reader, you're probably aware of blog giveaways. These are contests held by bloggers on their personal sites for their readers. Reasons for holding a giveaway varies. It might be to pull in more readers, help sponsors, celebrate an anniversary, or give back to loyal readers who've been there from the start. Personally, I haven't brewed any giveaway yet, just cause I've only started blogging this year, and I'm still thinking of the perfect reason to hold a giveaway. Then there's the mechanics. I still have to think carefully how I should want to do it. I want my very first one to be unique and would totally define me. One more thing that's holding me back is I want to be able to distinguish readers who are there because they're seriously interested in what I have to say or have found my blog entertaining enough to stick around. then if I'm able to accumulate enough loyal readers, It would be more fun and gratifying to thank them through a giveaway. Another thing to consider is to what to giveaway. I would want it to be interesting and exciting for both parties. See, it ain't easy. A lot of thought goes into these things but one thing's for sure, giveaways are more like "paying it forward" and letting the readers know they are appreciated. So, hang in there kittens. Stick with me, I might have one brewing soon.. but even before that happens, a HUGE thank you to all of you! *Kisses :D
Do you have giveaway suggestions? Feel free to suggest your ideas.. :D
love the post! i always look forward to your posts. sense and sensibility you got there babe. i myself is also not after giveaways. do not be in a hurry. there's an ample time tho it doesn't depend on whether you're a newbie or not. what matters is you're giving because you got good and honest intentions...i also think that it's not the amount of prizes...95% of readers are blinded with that, sad but true. my 2 cents:))
ReplyDeleteThanks Charles! I totally agree! I'm not saying it's bad either (everything here is based on personal opinions. So, others, don't get offended :D) Hey, if you're feeling generous and you've got something to give, why not?! I myself have participated in other bloggers' giveaways. Each giveaway is just different with the purpose behind it. So, to each his own! :D
ReplyDeletebingo! that's my mantra: to each his own. aka live and let live :)) wala naman cgro tatamaan kung wala ring guilty di ba :))
ReplyDeleteDoing a giveaway is quite stressful because you will get many entries especially if you're going to have a generous giveaway. :)And then of course, you will encounter people who never read the rules but that's just a part of it.
ReplyDeleteMy advice is that you just do what you feel like doing. If you feel that you want to thank your readers then do a giveaway for that. If you want to attract readers then go ahead and do it. Basta whatever your reasons are for doing it just do it! NIKE ito. LOL! ;) It's your blog. You rule. =]
One of the biggest things stopping me from doing a giveaway is that I don't know how to ship stuff. Haha :)) Feel ko ilalagay ko yun sa giveaway ko (if I have one) na baka madelay yung prize kasi shipping noob ako. XD
ReplyDeleteBasta pagisipan mo lang ng mabuti, maybe since first giveaway pa lang, you can limit it to followers? Yun definitely they read your blog. I'm not sure how to control readership kung anonymous eh, seems kinda impossible.
thanks for the input girls! Will definitely keep these in mind! :D
ReplyDeletelike wise sis! but if ever, i guess its more fun to spin up something for those who are really into your blog vs the ones who are just after the giveaway per se, db? not only do you get to share same thoughts/feelings, you'll also be able to extend stuff that you really love (with gratitude) to them. :)
