Concealers: Hard Candy Glamoflauge Heavy Duty Concealer

Hi Ladies! Another week is starting and I hope yours is going great so far. Today, I'm posting about a long over due review of a heavy duty concealer people are even comparing to the one from Makeup Forever, which I had reviewed before here. Hard Candy is not locally available here in the Philippines so I had to order this from Walmart thru a pre-order site. I prefer to order that way just to be certain my order will get to me.  So, keep on reading to know what I think of this product.

According to the Hard Candy website:

Glamoflauge - Heavy Duty Concealer
A heavy duty, highly pigmented, multi-use concealer that delivers ultimate coverage. The formula blends seamlessly into skin with plenty of play time creating a flawless and natural look perfect for any occasion. You can hide everything from dark circles and blemishes to tattoos!

The Glamoflauge concealer is only available in 3 shades: Light, Medium, and Tan. I was going back and forth between Medium and Tan but ended up getting the Tan instead.

Each Glamoflauge concealer tube comes with a free concealer pencil in the same shade, something I think, is a great deal. :D

The spout of the tube is bit compared to that of the Makeup Forever Full concealer and the consistency is more liquid than that of the MUFE one, I think because that is Silicon-based as opposed to the Glamoflauge which ingredients include:

Here are the swatches:

The pencil is not as pigmented as the liquid concealer though decent enough. It is packaged free to be used hand in hand to cover tattoos. Now, I don't have tattoos but I thought I'd too a demo for you guys on how incredibly pigmented this concealer is.  With just that a dot of that concealer I would attempt to cover these marks.

See? You be the judge. The smell is similar to that of a ballpen ink (I should know as I've accidentally sucked the ink out of a pen a couple of times when I was younger :D). Though, very pigmented, probably more than the MUFE full cover, it does not dry matte and is not budge-proof. Think of it more like a cream concealer. It just sits on top of the skin and does not dry. You definitely have to set this with a light dusting of powder to stay in place. I don't recommend using this as a foundation as this can be a bit sticky when used too much of. Some of its ingredients can also be a bit comedogenic especially for those with oily skin. So I don't advise this for everyday use. This is better used sparingly.

At the moment, my favorite use for this is mixing it with my OCC Lip tar in Hush to create a new shade to cover hyper-pigmentation around the lips. The pencil I tried using it around the waterline instead of the white eyeliner. So, far, no irritation has occurred. But for others, try it out first if it would work for you for that purpose.  The tube will last me a lifetime and probably won't be purchasing this again anytime soon. This is rated 3.9 out of 5 at www.makeupalley.com.

Anyone here had the chance to try Hard Candy's Glamoflauge Heavy Duty concealer too? Share your experience with us! Glamoflauge could be purchased at www.walmart.com for US$6.00 but you could also order like I did thru a pre-ordering site there are lots on multiply.com.

Cover Monday: Jessie J

Crazy Monday to y'all!!! Starting the week with a very uplifting song. I first heard this when I saw Step Up 3D. I think it played when the male lead discovered what the female lead was his archenemy's sister. I did not know who Jessie J was at the time but I really liked the song from that point on and decided to do a cover to share with you guys. Lyrics could be found below the link to my cover so you could sing along with it. :D

Cover Link : Who you are - Angeli's Cover

Who you are by Jessie J

I stare at my reflection in the mirror
Why am I doing this to myself?
Losing my mind on a tiny error
I nearly left the real me on the shelf
No, no, no, no, no

Don't lose it all in the blur of the stars
Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing
It's okay not to be okay
Sometimes it's hard to follow your heart

Tears don't mean you're losing
Everybody's bruising
Just be true to who you are

Who you are, who you are, who you are
Who you are, who you are, who you are
Who you are, who you are, who you are

Brushing my hair, do I look perfect?
I forgot what to do to fit the mold, yeah
The more I try the less it's working, yeah, yeah, yeah
'Cause everything inside me screams
No, no, no, no, no

Don't lose it all in the blur of the stars
Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing
It's okay not to be okay
Sometimes it's hard to follow your heart

But tears don't mean you're losing
Everybody's bruising
There's nothing wrong with who you are

Yes, no's, egos, fake shows like boom
Just go and leave me alone
Real talk, real life, good luck, good night
With a smile, that's my home, that's my home, no
No, no, no, no, no

Don't lose it all in the blur of the stars
Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing
It's okay not to be okay
Sometimes it's hard to follow your heart

Tears don't mean you're losing
Everybody's bruising
Just be true to who you are
Yeah, yeah, yeah

Cover Monday!!!

Hello Peeps! It's the start of another week and I'm starting mine off by implementing Cover Mondays. It's basically a post wherein I share with you guys my version of songs I can't stop singing over and over again! :D And to launch this crazy segment is my favorite song by Sara Bareilles called King of Anything. It's such a kick-ass song especially for us girls. So if you know it, sing along to it!

King of Anything - Cover by Angeli

Keep drinking coffee, stare me down across the table
While I look outside
So many things I'd say if only I were able
But I just keep quiet and count the cars that pass by

You've got opinions, man
We're all entitled to 'em
But I never asked

So let me thank you for your time
And try not to waste any more of mine
Get out of here fast

I hate to break it to you babe
But I'm not drowning
There's no one here to save

Who cares if you disagree? You are not me
Who made you king of anything?
So, you dare tell me who to be
Who died and made you king of anything?

You sound so innocent
All full of good intent
Swear you know best

But you expect me to
Jump up onboard with you
Ride off into your delusional sunset

I'm not the one who's lost
With no direction, oh
But you'll never see

You're so busy making masks
With my name on it in all caps
You've got the talking down
Just not the listening

Who cares if you disagree? You are not me
Who made you king of anything?
So you dare tell me who to be
Who died and made you king of anything?

All my life I've tried
To make everybody happy while I just hurt and hide
Waiting for someone to tell me it's my turn
To decide

Who cares if you disagree? You are not me
Who made you king of anything?
So you dare tell me who to be
Who died and made you king of anything?

Who cares if you disagree? You are not me
Who made you king of anything?
So you dare tell me who to be
Who died and made you king of anything?

Let me hold your crown, babe

Ecotools Bamboo 6 Piece Brush Set

Happy Easter everyone! How was your long vacation? Well, it's almost up and back to reality yet once again so enjoy the most out of it. Anyways, before holy week, I've been reading reviews after reviews of the best brush sets. I've never owned a set before so I'm really careful on what brand to invest in. I've considered a couple of the more popular brands but an old lemming came back to me. I've been curious about Ecotools before but never have gotten around to actually acquiring any since before, it's only available overseas. But thanks to the multiply marketplace, it is now within reach. Browsing through the marketplace I came upon Baratmode (cute and silly name but definitely a trusted seller).
Problem I had though, was which set to purchase. I wanted something that could cater to my everyday use. Then I saw this set:

This one sells for Php 850.00 at baratmode. I acquired it the weekend before holy week so I can have it before lent. Transaction was fast and very easy. Multiply has extended their free shipping promo so double yey! :D The package arrived and was packed extremely well. A sample sachet of Ecotools' Body Butter was even included.
The rest of this post will be pic heavy so beware! :D

The moment I swiped these brushes over my hand, I knew I made the right choice (price was also considered in my decision making process). Now, before I ramble on, let me give you bits of information about Ecotools to give you an idea about the brand if it's the first time you are hearing about them.

Ecotools is an earth-friendly brand that shows respect for the planet. Their brush sets have:
  • Handles made from bamboo, a highly sustainable plant.
  • 100% cruelty-free, soft taklon bristles.
  • Recycled aluminum ferrules.
  • Natural cotton and hemp cosmetic bag.
  • Reusable storage pouch.
the brushes are housed in the cotton and hemp bag
the bamboo handles w/ the brand logo. I think it's stamped onto the handles with a heated stamp.
Recycled aluminum ferrules. Be careful though, these can easily be scratched and dented.
the pouch was overhauled. It was originally just a brush roll with string to tie it shut
but now they've added a pouch and a Velcro to close the bag.

On to the brushes!
The Blush Brush is so soft. Can also be used as a powder brush or even for foundation. :D
Front and side view of the blush brush.
side by side with my Ellana baby kabuki brush (who's turning 4yrs. old this year).
The Ecotools blush brush is a bit softer compared to it. But both are soft nonetheless.
Concealer Brush

Eye shading or Eyeshadow brush packs on color pretty decently. It does the job for me.
Eyeliner brush is soft enough to not scratch the eye area but is useful in creating thin lines.
Lash and Brow groomer functions just as any would. There's nothing special about this. I just like the fact that
the brush does not hurt my skin when I brush it over my brows.

Well, there you go, I just let the product shots do all the talking for you. I can't really say much con about Ecotools brushes just that the case could have had a plastic protector inside so that it does not stain easily when putting back used brushes. And it is flimsy and too soft. It does not offer much support for the brushes inside. But you could always remedy that by purchasing another case so no problem for me.

I shall be paying baratmode another visit as I am eyeing those 6 piece eye brush set hmmmm....

Oh, and another thing, Ecotools always count the cotton and hemp bag as part of the set. So if it says 6 piece, it's actually just five brushes and the case. Just so you know :D

I love this brand. They are inexpensive yet of high quality brushes. Also makes you feel good that you are actually helping the environment in a small way. Have you tried any of their brushes? Share it with us I personally would love to hear your opinion. :D
